My first week of work was through. basically im the youngest and dumbest in the company. Everyone just look so professional and intellectual. you know, real-time engineers. what im doing is rather related to my field of study but seriously i forgot them all! my short-term memory is just too brilliant. works too well. a guy went in together with me. don't ask me how potential he is cuz im just too tired trying to be graciously frank. hes definitely much more talkative than me but on the other hand, who doesn't? he's my friend nonetheless. my whole department is filled with ntu eee people with some occasional foreign university graduates and 1 nus girl? colleagues treat me rather well as in they will invite me to dine with them and offer to help me out but i have nearly zilch things to talk to them! they basically have their own old-time discussion topics which i have no prior knowledge of and i don't see the point of cutting in and make myself a pest. i would quietly listen to their conversations and laugh at the right time., answering some rare questions that were directed to me. sometimes the silence is so overbearing and i felt that i must be the cause of it. will this period of awkwardness quickly pass by or is it me who's the problematic one? I'm always trying to drain out knowledge from my "mentor", a really zai guy while constantly trying not to appear too dumb. hai. Thay are just too pro. He's counting on my help with this upcoming in-house testing that will involve angmohs, the bane of my english competency. urgh.
working life will probably go like "1 week down, 44 years to go!" kinda stuff. makes you realise the happiness involved in TGIF and public holidays. On a daily basis, lunchtime and teatime. You calculate your daily pay to seek comfort. the greatest happiness is to be on your way back from work everyday and to take a step further, it is to know that you don't have to wake up to your alarm ringtone the next morning. or the morning after. therefore guys, lets just invest occasionally in bigsweep. who knows, may bring good news. and maybe i'll go into shares once i have reached a certain financial foundation.
